History of Bosch Rexroth in the USA
Our four decades of innovation, quality and expertise began, as so many stories do, with a small yet talented group of people determined to pursue opportunity and offer the finest industrial products available to U.S. manufacturers.

Below are some of the pivotal events in the history of the Bosch Rexroth Corporation in the USA.
1967-1978
  • 1967 - The Rexroth Corporation founded as U.S. arm and importer of G.L. Rexroth GmbH, German manufacturer of industrial products
  • 1974 - Rexroth moves headquarters to Bethlehem, PA.
  • 1975 - Start of production of directional, pressure and flow control valves at Bethlehem.
  • 1976 - Rexroth becomes 100% subsidiary of Mannesmann AG.
1979-1989
  • 1979 - Purchase of Mobile Hydraulics Division from Borg Warner.
  • 1979 - Expansion of Indramat AC Servo drive product lines, predecessor to Electric Drives and Controls division.
  • 1983 - Rexroth wins U.S. Navy contract to supply arresting gear engines to catch airplanes landing on aircraft carriers.
  • 1989 - Rexroth purchases WABCO Fluid Power and establishes Pneumatics division in Lexington, KY.
1990-2000
  • 1991 - Rexroth acquires Tychoway Bearings Company and begins marketing a broad linear product offering in U.S.
  • 1991 - The first U.S. SERCOS open drive system is installed at a GM engineering plant.
  • 1995 - U.S. sales exceed $500 million for first time.
  • 1995 - Indramat moves headquarters to Hoffman Estates; Linear Products moves to Charlotte.
  • 1998 - Alfred J Krug, 1st President and CEO of Rexroth US, retires after 30 years of service.
2000-2007
  • 2001 - Bosch Rexroth US founded; U.S. headquarters moved to Hoffmann Estates.
  • 2003 - Opening of Tech Center West in California – Linear Motion and Assembly production center for West Coast markets.
  • 2005 - Expansion of Fountain Inn, SC manufacturing plant.
  • 2006 - North American sales exceed $1 billion.
  • 2006 - Investment in Bethlehem Logistics Center.
