Frost & Sullivan Acknowledges Bosch Rexroth’s Outstanding Innovation in Motion Control Solutions

(Palo Alto, Calif.) Frost & Sullivan selected Bosch Rexroth’s IndraDrive® Mi as the recipient of the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation in the motors and drives domain.
The Award recognizes Bosch Rexroth IndraDrive® Mi’s unique capability of seamlessly integrating motion control electronics and servo motor in one ultra modular system, which has enabled customers to minimize costs and maximize profitability.
"Bosch Rexroth has shown a unique understanding of customer needs and has come out with an innovative revolutionary concept of attaching the drive to the long axis of the motor, producing more torque in a smaller package and thereby significantly reducing installation costs," explains Frost & Sullivan Team Leader Shibu S L. In most integrated motor and drive systems, the effective dissipation of heat remains a key challenge as integrating a motor and drive requires a consolidated effort from a design and engineering standpoint.
Bosch Rexroth’s relentless efforts in integrating cutting-edge design with superior engineering capabilities has resulted in the IndraDrive® Mi, which has better heat sink capability than most other integrated products available in the motors’ market.
It has also demonstrated innovative ability to handle extreme temperature ranges while providing more rated power by using specially designed electronic components.
IndraDrive® Mi has brought to its customers better functionality, reduced space and cost, thereby bringing down the total cost of ownership, which when compared to most other motion control solutions, has helped it emerge as the preferred motion control solution across select end user verticals.
It also enables customers to significantly reduce wiring costs by providing a single cable that carries both power and SERCOS communications. When several IndraDrive Mi systems are connected in series, the wiring costs are reduced even further, resulting in up to 75 percent reduction in cabling.
Customers have reported significant cost savings of over 40 percent. Additionally, this particular feature also reduces the footprint of machinery, thus positively impacting manufacturing metrics
