Robotics motion controller, washdown pneumatic cylinders, packaging conveyors and lean engineering software among Rexroth GenNext Technology highlights at the 2007 Pack Expo.

Rexroth will showcase its capabilities in motion control, pneumatics, linear motion, material flow technology, lean engineering and more. Product highlights include:
Robotics Control with IndraMotion MLC
Rexroth’s IndraMotion MLC Motion Logic controller with embedded robotic capabilities brings increased flexibility to packaging applications. The MLC controller uses standard IEC programming controls rather than proprietary programs for the robotic functions. With more than 100 ready-to-use kinematics for Delta, SCARA and Cartesian style robots, the Rexroth MLC control offers a full six-axis path planner, with the ability to run multiple kinematics at the same time. Features include up to 64 axes of control with the ability to handle up to eight robotic kinematics simultaneously.
IndraDrive Mi Integrated Motor and Drive
The Rexroth IndraDrive Mi is an integrated motor and drive that offers the utmost in versatility and cost efficiency. The motor housing serves as the heat sink for the servo amplifier which is mounted directly on the top of the motor, allowing a reduction in cabinet space by up to 70 percent. The IndraDrive Mi also significantly reduces wiring costs by up to 85 percent. A single cable carries both power and SERCOS communications. Up to 20 IndraDrive Mi systems can be connected in series powered by a single power supply in the electrical cabinet.
ICL Cleanline Pneumatic Cylinders
The new ICL cylinders offer a clean design for dust-off or light washdown applications common in secondary packaging/handling applications. Featuring ideal cushioning, the cylinders are built to maximize stroke speed, resulting in reduced cycle times and reduced vibration to extend the longevity of the cylinder. The cylinders contain hard anodized aluminum surfaces with stainless steel screw and piston rods.
VarioFlow S Conveyor System
The VarioFlow S conveyor system provides Adaptive Modularity™ to help simplify conveyor installation and adaptation for both end-users and system integrators. The VarioFlow S allows for systems from 80 to 320 mm wide in either aluminum or stainless steel by using common framing, drive and support components. Rexroth’s patented horizontal curve system uses ball bearings to ensure minimal friction and to allow for trouble-free, smooth operation in accumulated conditions. The conveyor’s open system design also lends itself to washdown and hygienic applications.
MTpro Software for Lean Engineering
Rexroth will feature a variety of lean engineering tools for design and planning, including their MTpro software for conveyor system engineering. MTpro integrates CAD and layout tools and comes complete with an electronic catalog containing components and systems for Rexroth VarioFlow modular chain conveyors, TS-family assembly conveyors, aluminum structural framing, and Manual Production Systems. There is also an integrated product configurator that supports users during the selection of technical parameters. Lastly, a simple administrative tool adds a speedy element to the entire procurement process.
