FMSsoft Random Tip Disass and Join functions in MGEsoft
Every MGEsoft module (block) has built-in attributes which are used to generate accurate Bills Of Material (BOM). Disass and Join functions should be used to modify and save MGE blocks while preserving original block attributes. These functions can be found in the MGE-Tools menu under the Change option. Disass and Join functions allow users to explode MGE blocks using the Disass function. The MGE block can then be edited before being saved back into a block format using the Join function.
To illustrate how to use the above mentioned features, suppose you were adding a hinge to your drawing. The hinge block consists of a pair of hinges, but you only want to show one hinge and preserve its attributes so your BOM is correct. After inserting the hinge into a drawing use the Disass command to explode the block. Delete the hinge you don’t need while being careful not to delete any of the attributes (attributes become text after the block is exploded). Finally, use the Join command to put the rest of the drawing and attributes back together into a single block.
To review and edit block attributes type “ddatte” in AutoCAD’s command prompt. A new dialog will open and display all of the selected block properties. Make sure to press OK to save any changes to the attributes.
